A Reflection : Archbishop Chaput’s “Render Unto Ceasar”

We finally finished this book. In this last blog post we will summarize the last 4 chapters Chapter 9 was entitled “A Man for All Seasons”,and yes it is in fact about Thomas More. Right off the bat we are introduced to St. Thomas More. A Review of Archbishop Chaput’s: Render Unto Caesar

Monday and Tuesday of this week we read chapter 7 ” What Went Wrong”.  This chapter was about politics and religion. The best example of this is John F. Kennedy’s stance on church and state. He believed that church and state should be completely separate, and even that religion should be merely personal and by no means public; interestingly he publicized that he was a Catholic. A Reflection on Achbishop Chaput: Render Unto Caesar

This week we read the chapter: Constantine’s Children. This chapter started with a story of two bishops. The first was named Joseph Rummel and he was the bishop over the diocese of New Orleans. He was around the time of WWII and there was a lot of discrimination. He was against discrimination and segregation and helped provide Catholic education to young black people. Archbishop Joseph Rummel allowed 2 black students enter his seminary. In 1953 he issued a letter entitled: ” Blessed are the Peacemakers” in it Rummel condemned segregation. Republican Party Platform Opinion     For the past two weeks we have been reading over the Republican party platform. There is an immense amount of information on what this party plans to do if they are elected as the presidential party. Here is a brief summary about the platform.
