Recently we have watched so very interesting shows the most resent was “Can We Go To Mars”. Scientists are working on making us able to go to mars there is still a couple of years left before we can go. If we chose to go now it would take 2.5 years to get there over 1 million pounds of food and would cost a lot. Not only are the trying to make it possible they are trying to make it more comfortable by building better g suites and other things like that. Though we still have a long way to go to mars they have robots there discovering things every day. Many people ask was there life on mars and scientists are finding fossilized bacteria and minerals that are in water. So perhaps there was life once maybe we will live there and find out for sure or maybe it is just a barren wast land.

Science by HFHS

Yesterday, December 15, we learn on the “Nova Science Now” show that they could grow living organs. It was really interesting how they could use a chemical, commonly found in shampoo, to eat away the cells in the organ that was removed from an animal such as a rat. After this process they would just have a sort of frame work of proteins left over. They use the cells of the other rat that they are going to implant the organ into to grow the tissue. This way the body of the rat will not reject it. They can also do this to most any other organ. Even to the human organs.

They had lungs that they got to breathe on their own and heart to beat on their own. It was truly amazing.

Math by HFHS

Today we worked on 3 lessons. The first lesson was about the measure of central tenancy, mean, median, mode, and range. We found it very easy but also very time consuming. The next lesson we worked on was the relationship of angles. This was a new lesson so we found it more intriguing than the others, but still very easy. It taught us how to name certain types of angles and how they pertain one another. The last lesson we worked on was about nets. Nets are the unfolded version of a prism, pyramid, cylinders, or cones. All these lessons were very easy and we feel as if we have successfully completed them.

History by HFHS

The Show we watched for history was called The War by Ken Burns. It was mainly about WWII, and its effect on the nation. It made us realize the devastation that it caused. The main thing that touched us was the family that went without mothers and fathers.

Through the days of war thousands of people, not just soldiers, but civilians in fact more people died then soldiers. One of the worst times was the Bataan death march were the Americans surrendered to the Japaneses. Even though there General ask if hi men would be treated well and the Japaneses said yes the men were considered cowards and were treated with no respect. The Japaneses brought the solders to a camp after a long death march. Through the duration of the march solders were killed, beaten and insulted. Japaneses soldiers drove by with there sabers put out and would slice throat and behead soldiers. When they finally got to the concentration camp that was unfinished and not in good shape the were starved. The people they buried in the mass grave some men through in their dog tags because the di not know if the were going to every see home again.

Panem nostrum quotidianum da nobis hodie, et dimitte nobis debita nostra sicut et nos dimittimus debitoribus nostris. Et ne nos inducas in tentationem, sed libera nos a malo.

Hail Mary or Áve María

Áve María, grátia pléna, Dóminus técum. Benedícta tu in muliéribus, et benedíctus frúctus véntris túi, Iésus.
Sáncta María, Máter Déi, óra pro nóbis peccatóribus, nunc et in hóra mórtis nóstrae. Ámen.

Sign of the Cross or Signum Crucis

In nomine Patris et Filii et Spiritus Sancti. Amen.

Apostles Creed or Symbolum Apostolorum

Credo in Spiritum Sanctum, sanctam Ecclesiam Catholicam, sanctorum communionem, remissionem peccatorum, carnis resurrectionem, vitam aeternam. Amen.

Math by HFHS

9th grade lesson 51-Negative Exponents, Scientific notation for negative numbers.

- The thing about this lesson that stuck out to me was the negative exponents. They are very much the same as normal exponents except the fact that the decimal goes the other way and it has a negative sign.

7th grade lesson 51- Scientific notation for large numbers.

– I enjoyed this lesson because it was very easy if it is a large number just make a decimal and count the zeros. At first i got stuck and then I realized just count the zeros and make a decimal as simple as that and i was doing all this crazy page long math problems to figure it out . Thank you mother for the help.

Electricity by HFHS

On Wednesday, August 24, we went up in to the attic and looked around for the cords that went to the inoperable switch that is in our hallway. We discovered that the reason for the switch was inoperable was that the power cord was not connected to the switch. We deduced this by looking at the cords for an operable switch in another location. In order to make this switch function we must apply a power source to the switch.

Gardening by HFHS

When trying to garden make
sure you always get all the unwanted grass and nasty weeds out of the area
before you try to plant. Dig up the roots and then mix fertilizer in with the
old dirt to make rich for the little baby plants to grow in. Plant your
garden somewhere it will get plenty of sun and shade, water daily. In order to
prevent the burning of the plants, be sure to mix the fertilizer thoroughly. In
our experience the best fertilizer to use is horse manure but, be warned put it
in before you plant anything or the plants will be burned by the manure.

To be successful
gardener you must be educated in the needs of every plant that you grow. First,
you must know where to plant it, in lots of sun in lots of shade or an equal amount
of both. Second, you need to know the planting times and harvesting times. Next,
you must know how much water to give the plants, too much will drown it and, too
little will dry it up like a prune.

If you plan
on gardening will be there right beside you.I hope you fide our advice useful happy
gardening.

last we Plant the seed-marriage

Most women at the age of  19 pick a man that they wouldn’t pick at 17 ,and at the age of 21 they pick a man they wouldn’t pick at 19.

Tobit by HFHS

This week i have been reading the book of Tobit in the bible. I learned that Tobit had cataracts so bad that he was completely blind. His son Tobiah was going to get married to a woman who lived a good distance a way from them named Sarah. Sarah’s family was very loving and aloud Tobiah marry Sarah. They married and went back to Tobit’s house bu Tobiah made it back to Tobit’s house first so that he and his friend could tidy up the house before Sarah got there. When Tobiah made it there his mother was standing out in the gate to greet them. When Tobit heard them he stumbled out of the house and met his son. Tobiah had a medicine that he put on his fathers eyes. When he put it on it smarted a little and then Tobit peeled the cataracts off and could see again.
