This is the day the Lord has made…
Let us rejoice and be glad in it!
I awoke to the announcement of the resignation of my Pope…yes, my Pope. My family came into the Catholic Church in 2007 after falling head over heels for this institution. We felt strangely drawn to Blessed Pope John Paul II in 2005, as he passed from this life, and his long time assistant Joseph Ratzinger. I found myself completely grief stricken when Bl. JP2 passed; strange for a non-Catholic…and so the journey began. The journey to the Church and all her splendor as preserved by Christ himself along side God the Father and the Holy Spirit.
Pope Benedict embodies everything I believe in so strongly. He is my Pope and he will always be dear to me and my family as our, “Papa Ben.” What will the Church do without him…She will continue on as She always has…for over 2000 years! God is still in control, but He has given us free will…what will we do with it in this situation.
Who will be our next Pontiff? Only God knows, but I am reminded of the old testament writings of how the Israelites consistently disobeyed God and finally He gave them all they wished for…
God help us…no really!
