The Great Divorce

This book is called “the Great Divorce.” It was written by C.S. Lewis. In this book he tells his view of Heaven and Hell. It is interesting to see the way he describes and illustrates the two. It really made me think of my own spiritual life. One of the quotes that really stood out to me was “You can’t love a fellow creature fully til you love God.” He kinda helped me to understand that no matter how hard you try, you can never ever out love God. You also can’t even imagine the glory you will share with him in heaven. I really liked it. It’s about 150 pages long and of medium difficulty.

The idea that impressed me most was:

“That’s what we all find when we reach this country. We’ve all been wrong! That’s the great joke. There’s no need to go on pretending one was right! After that we begin living.”

When i read ” The Great Divorce ” it was an intellectual and spiritual journey a short but meaningful one. He brought me into the light of God is love and we cannot truly love until we love God. As I read this book i read of ghosts speaking with the redeemed spirits arguing and debating the very existence of God. Hell in the book is ghost who goes back to what is purgatory. Lewis describes Hell as a small Crack that love, truth, and good could not fit in, only hate, dishonesty, and evil. The teacher states “only the father can enter there for the higher ye is the lower ye can descend”. I do agree with E that quote was one of my favorites.
