Evening Prayers April 4 2009 by e

Audio of Evening Prayers for April 4, 2009.

Psalm 119:105-112; Psalm 16; Philippians 2:6-11; 1 Peter 1:18-21

From ancient times the Church has had the custom of celebrating each day the Liturgy of the Hours, also known as the Divine Office. In this way the Church fulfills the Lord’s precept to pray without ceasing, at once offering its praise to God the Father and interceding for the salvation of the world. Join me in praying the Liturgy of the Hours today and throughout the lenten season.

Morning Prayers April 4 2009 by e

Audio of Morning Prayers for April 4, 2009.

Today we remember Saint Isidore (560-636), bishop of Seville and doctor of the church.

“Prayer purifies us, reading instructs us. Both are good when both are possible. Otherwise, prayer is better than reading.”

Psalm 119:145-152; Exodus 15:1-4a, 8-13, 17-18; Psalm 117; Isaiah 65:1b-3a
