Morning Prayers April 2 2009

Audio of Morning Prayers for April 2, 2009.

Today we remember Saint Francis of Paola (1416-1507). The Office of Readings quotes a letter by Saint Francis of Paola, saying in part “Pardon one another so that later on you will not remember the injury. The recollection of an injury is itself wrong. It adds to our anger, nurtures our sin and hates what is good. It is a rusty arrow and poison for the soul… It is indeed a daily death.”

Psalm 57; Jeremiah 31:10-14; Psalm 48; Hebrews 2:9-10

From ancient times the Church has had the custom of celebrating each day the Liturgy of the Hours, also known as the Divine Office. In this way the Church fulfills the Lord’s precept to pray without ceasing, at once offering its praise to God the Father and interceding for the salvation of the world. Join me in praying the Liturgy of the Hours today and throughout the lenten season.
